建造於1933年(昭和8年)的宮原武熊宅邸(原名臺中市市長公館)，是日籍眼科醫師—宮原武熊興建的住宅別墅，宮原醫師為留德眼科博士，曾任台中州協議員，並與台籍精英共組東亞共榮協會，活躍於政界。西元1945年二戰後，日人離台，由臺中市政府接收，據史料記載，臺中市市長陳宗熙、政治人物陳果夫與實施地方自治後之民選市長楊基先、林金標、邱欽洲、林澄秋、曾文坡與張子源、林柏榕皆曾居住在此，在1964-1986年間，曾短暫成為市議會招待所及職員宿舍，直至胡志強市長上任後推動閒置空間再利用計畫將台中市長公館移作藝文展演空間。2016年，市政府為健全老人福利政策、規劃多元活躍老化方案，宅邸由文化局移交予社會局管理，以「不老夢想館」為發展方向。同年6月由弘道老人福利基金會取得營運權。

Constructed in 1933, the Residence of Miyahara Takekuma, formerly called Taichung Mayor’s House, was originally the mansion of Japanese optometrist Miyahara Takeo. After the Japan’s defeat in 1945, Taichung City government took over the mansion, and it was converted into the mayor’s residence, guest house of city council, and staff dormitory. In 2016, it was officially transferred and operated by Hondao Senior Citizens' Welfare Foundation as BULAO 125.
